Timely injury boost as key player set to return against Motherwell”

It is an absolutely massive weekend in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic who currently find themselves second in the league table, two points behind rivals Rangers.

That gap could extend to five points before a ball is even kicked with Philippe Clement’s side due to host Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday. A win for the home side would see them extend their lead but any slip up would give the Hoops the opportunity to regain top spot.

The team led by Brendan Rodgers will go to Fir Park on Sunday to play Motherwell, who are presently ranked ninth. The good news for fans is that a crucial player is expected to make a comeback from injury this weekend, which might have a significant impact on the upcoming title race.

According to The Scottish Sun, Cameron Carter-Vickers is back in training with his Celtic colleagues and will play this weekend at Fir Park after missing time due to injury. Due to a hamstring injury, the former Tottenham Hotspur centre back has only made one appearance since the end of December.

After missing a month of play, he was able to make a comeback at the end of January, playing for just over an hour at home against Ross County before being replaced. After receiving three weeks of “intensive care,” he appears to be well again, but Brendan Rodgers could be hesitant to thrust the American international right into the action in Lanarkshire.

Prior to his injury in December, Carter-Vickers made 20 appearances this season across all competitions. After a successful loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, he secured a permanent contract at Celtic Park in 2022, and he has been an integral member of the Hoops’ defence ever since. He is currently in his third season at the stadium.
