Today, Celtic “decided to remove  player off the market.*

On transfer deadline day, there was still a glimmer of hope in Lecce that Celtic would allow Gustaf Lagerbielke to move to Italy. But, Brendan Rodgers’ team declined to do so, and Quotidiano di Puglia brings what is likely to be the last update on this drawn-out and ultimately thrilling story. The newspaper seems a little dejected as they explain how the possibility of signing the Celtic center-back “faded away” on the final day.

That’s because, in the “final hours” of the winter window, Celtic “decided to remove him” off the market, effectively eliminating the Swede’s chances of landing in Italy.
Lagerbielke appeared to be ready to leave, but Rodgers and higher-ups decided to halt the loan due to Cameron Carter-Vickers’ physical state.

This incensed the defender, who had not played much since moving to Celtic Park from Elfsborg in the summer. However, despite numerous entreaties, nothing materialised, and he will now have to wait it out in Scotland until the next chance to depart arises.

That’s going to be the summer, unless something changes.
