Liel Abada’s Celtic exit could go through in the next 24 hours after the winger passed his Charlotte FC medical.
After three years at Parkhead, the winger is expected to leave for a big-money transfer to the Major League Soccer. Abada has faced difficulties off the pitch as a result of the dispute between Palestine and his own country, with the Green Brigade and other members of the Hoops overtly endorsing the latter.
Brendan Rodgers, the manager, stated that the 22-year-old was “not in the right frame of mind” to participate in games when he was declared unavailable for selection last month. The player, who the Northern Irishman maintained had a significant role to play at the club, had previously been ruled out for sale.
As we previously reported, Abada was in talks with the US team, and Celts are expected to pay less than £10 million for him. He is now expected to sign a four-year contract.
Football Scotland is aware that he has successfully completed a medical examination and that an official announcement may be made in the coming day or two.
Visa-related delays have been mentioned as a possible reason for the wait, but even if it might take a few weeks for that to happen, he can still be named as Charlotte’s player.
