A significant Chester city centre road is temporarily closed during rush hour today due to emergency roadwork.
Cheshire West and Chester Council is alerting drivers to “expect long delays” on Handbridge/Overleigh Road and the southern loop of the inner ring road due to the closure of Grosvenor Street’s westbound side just past the intersection of Bridge Street and Lower Bridge Street.
The emergency work was prompted by an unplanned power outage that occurred on Sunday evening between 4.50 and 6.20 p.m. in Chester City Centre and is being carried out by SP Energy Network.
Simultaneously with the power outage, Chester Railway Station experienced delays and disruptions that affected multiple services.
