Chesterfield FC Building up to Saturday’s home game against Forest

The Spireites are building up to their first home fixture of the pre-season campaign, Saturday’s visit of Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Paul Cook will hope to have a full squad to choose from after Ollie Banks was the only player unavailable for the pre-season opener at Matlock Town.

Danny Webb explained the midfielder’s absence at Matlock, saying: “He had a slightly sore groin, so he was unavailable. He’ll be back training Monday.”

Rigorous pre-season training continues, building up the players’ fitness ahead of the big kick-off.

“Monday will be very hard and so will Tuesday, potentially Wednesday off,” said Webb.

“The main thing early on is no injuries, a bit more fitness in the tank and two weeks in, it’s all about that first league game of the season.

“We don’t want to lose anyone for that first league game. The gaffer wants a full selection of his players to choose from.”
