Chesterfield in ‘best position in its history’, says manager Paul Cook

The future looks bright for the Spireites, who celebrated their promotion to the Football League with an open top bus parade and civic reception at the town hall on Sunday.

Cook made the following statement while standing on the balcony of the town hall in front of thousands of spectators: “Chesterfield Football Club is arguably in the best position it has ever been in, and that is a great credit to everyone involved.” They are an asset to the town: players, coaches, administrators, and those in positions of power. There are a lot of wonderful folks working behind the scenes in football right now. We are unstoppable this year because of the 8,000 average gates that have completely supported the players and staff.

The community holds great significance for the football team. We occasionally need one another, and we ought to support one another in difficult times as well. There will be gloomy days ahead; when they do, let’s remain strong in our unity.

No one else has ever achieved what Cook has done, having won two titles with Chesterfield during his four promotions as manager.”This is without a doubt the best,” he said in response to a question about its ranking. The National League is, in my opinion, far tougher than most people realise. Every game is extremely difficult, particularly if your team is the largest in the division. Everyone is eager to defeat you.

In addition, Cook gave the players credit for smashing several club records en route to winning the championship.

“They have been brilliant,” he continued. With the exception of the past five games, none of which we have attended! They have been outstanding. However, a league season consists of 46 games, and at the conclusion of the season, the top teams are the football team, which is unpleasant for the worst clubs. We were without a doubt the league’s best team by a wide margin.
