Chesterfield in talks with council about victory parade to celebrate promotion

The Spireites’ six-year stay in non-league came to an end on Saturday after they beat Boreham Wood 3-0 which secured them top spot.

Thousands of rans onto the pitch to celebrate before captain Jamie Grimes lifted the trophy into the air.

At the town’s bars and clubs, the players and supporters mixed well into the night and into Sunday.

Additionally, Blues chairman Mike Goodwin disclosed that they are in discussions with Chesterfield Borough Council on the planning of a victory parade, which will provide fans with an additional opportunity to celebrate winning the championship.

Goodwin stated, “We have had those conversations with the borough council,” on the Football Heaven programme of BBC Radio Sheffield. “They wish to pay tribute to the football team.They intend to host a banquet at the town hall and a parade for us. We should have something arranged for that within the next several days as those preparations are being implemented as we speak.

The borough council has been approached by the DT for a response.
