After playing for Solihull Moors for the last four seasons, 26-year-old Callum Maycock has signed a two-year contract with AFC Wimbledon.
In 43 games last season, the centre midfielder netted eight goals as Solihull finished fifth. However, the team ultimately lost on penalties to Gateshead in the FA Trophy final and Bromley in the play-off final.
According to reports, both Bromley and the Spireites attempted to get his signature but were unsuccessful.
After graduating from Coventry City’s academy, Maycock made his senior debut in the 2016–17 campaign. In addition, he has played for Macclesfield and Leamington.
He stated, “I want to do everything in my power to help this club get into League One,” upon joining AFC Wimbledon. Our goal is to promote; that is our target.
“I’ve shown that I can dart forward from midfield, get on the ball and as of last year, get goals to my name. The aim will be to continue that here. I’m excited to be in this place.”
While manager Jonnie Jackson added: “Callum is an energetic, box to box midfielder with an eye for a goal. He has performed consistently well over the last few seasons with Solihull and is hungry to take his chance in the league.
“He wants to get on the ball and make things happen and loves to get forward, as seen by the eight goals he scored from midfield last season.”
