Leeds Rhinos confirm new deals

Leeds Rhinos have tied down 15 of their brightest young talents, including four players who have played in Super League this season.
Ned McCormack and Alfie Edgell, two other academy grads Riley Lumb and Tom Nicholson-Watton also represented the first team in 2024, were key players in last week’s victory over Leigh Leopards.

Lumb has inked three-year contracts with McCormack and Edgell, Nicholson-Watton is now under contract with the team to the end of 2025, and Lumb has extended his time at Headingley by four years.
The 17-year-old loose forward Presley Cassell has committed to the longest contract after pledging to stay with the team for the next five years.
“This is a group of talented young men who cover all positions and have time to develop in the Super League squad and push hard to compete for a starting position in the team in the years ahead.”

John Bastian, head of youth at Leeds
“Leeds Rhinos has always been proud of its track record of not only developing quality, young talent but also giving them opportunities to play at the highest level,” stated Ian Blease, sporting director.

“That’s still the case, as seen by Alfie Edgell and Ned McCormack’s contributions to last week’s victory over Leigh.

“This next generation will be hoping they too can make their mark and follow in the footsteps of fellow Rhinos Ash Handley and Harry Newman who are both academy graduates in the England squad this weekend.”
