New Chesterfield signing makes bold statement about ambitions for League Two return

Tim Akinola has made a bold statement about Chesterfield’s ambitions for the new season.

The midfielder has re-signed for the Spireites on a one-year deal with an option.

The 23-year-old was on loan at Town in the 2022/2023 season as they reached the play-off final but now he has penned a permanent deal.

The Nigerian is certain they can have another good season in League Two after winning the National League title.

Since the caliber of our players is so high, I would honestly say that my aspirations are to try to win the league title and to at least make it to the play-offs.

Following his loan stint at Chesterfield, Akinola left Arsenal and traveled to play football in Qatar. Even though he was thousands of miles away, he continued to follow the Spireites’ games and communicate with the players.

Upon returning to the club, he exclaimed, “It’s incredible.” I’m so happy right now. I basically instantly said “yes” as soon

It simply has a homey vibe. I was missing it when I was over there. Everyone seems to be highly rooted in reality and together as a family. I was thrilled for them when they were promoted.

“The support here is amazing,” he continued. My dad was astonished by the number of spectators when we first arrived, and from what I’ve heard, there are even more today, so perhaps a new stadium won’t be necessary!

After signing Paddy Madden and Kane Drummond in the summer, Akinola is Chesterfield’s third summer addition.

as the gaffer called. It’s great to be back because I had a great experience here previously.
