The 23-year-old started his professional career with Arsenal and loan spells at Dundee United and then Chesterfield during the 2022/23 season.
An agreement has been reached with for the midfielder to rejoin the Spireites on a one-year deal with an option.
During his time in North Derbyshire, Akinola made 31 appearances as the Blues reached the National League promotion final.
He left Arsenal at the end of that season before joining Al Bidda in the Qatari Second Division.
After agreeing a deal, which is subject to approval from the relevant governing bodies, Akinola said: “It’s amazing. When the gaffer called me, I just said, ‘Yeah. I want to come back’.”
“I loved it here when I played here on loan and it’s just really good to be back. It just feels like home.”
