For millions of individuals over the course of five decades, Joel’s songs have served as both personal and cultural touchstones. ‘Piano Man,’ an autobiographical song penned by Joel while he was performing in a Los Angeles lounge in 1973, was the first of his 33 consecutive Top 40 successes that he wrote alone. Piano Man was chosen in 2016 by the Library of Congress for inclusion in the National Recording Registry due to its “cultural, historic, and artistic significance.” Joel has had hits for nearly 50 years, including three Top 40 hits: “Tell Her About It,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me,” and “It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me.”

and ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire,’ which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and earned Joel 23 GRAMMY nominations since he signed his first record deal in 1972.

Joel is a very captivating and commercially successful live artist, featuring hits such as “Uptown Girl,” “Just The Way You Are,” “The Longest Time,” and “Vienna,” among many more. With one performance at The Garden each month, Joel launched Madison Square Garden’s inaugural music franchise in January 2014, which Billboard Magazine dubbed “The Greatest Arena Run in History.” The series is still going strong today.

Joel will be performing at The Garden for the 142nd time in his career, more than 45 years after making his stage debut there. Every gig he has performed there has sold out.

Joel has received numerous honours during his career, which bears witness to the respect that both fans and musicians hold for him. Ray Charles, Joel’s idol, inducted him into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Joel is the recipient of two RIAA Diamond Awards: The Stranger and Greatest Hits Volume I & II. The awards are given to albums that have sold more than 10 million copies.

Six GRAMMY® Awards have been given to him, including the esteemed GRAMMY Legend Award. Joel has won a TONY AWARD for “Movin’ Out,” a Broadway musical based on his songs, and he has been admitted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, which includes the esteemed Johnny Mercer Award. Additionally, he was inducted by Barack and Michelle Obama at the 36th Annual Kennedy Centre Honour.

The Joel Foundation is a humanitarian organisation that focuses on music education and humanitarian help, having donated and pledged over $7MM in charity contributions. The Joel Foundation offers funding to organisations in New York City and Long Island that use music to improve the lives of people of all ages in addition to supporting essential international humanitarian initiatives. The Joel Foundation recently declared that it will keep funding Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA), the only public arts high school on the island, for an extended period of time. LIHSA serves student-artists in a pre-conservatory programme with an emphasis on career and technical education.
