Deshaun Watson will wait to start throwing for the Cleveland Browns until he feels ready to return to the field.
A rotator cuff problem has caused Watson to miss the most of the Browns’ previous four games. In that time, Watson made only one appearance, going just one quarter against the Indianapolis Colts. He did not look before he was substituted out of the game following a severe hit.
In remarks to the media on Thursday, November 2, Watson expressed his desire to avoid repeating the same error twice.
Watson remarked, “We have to all be on the same page.” “I informed the lads that Indianapolis week was coming up. I made that choice, and to be honest, I wasn’t prepared. I made a slight attempt to jump the gun, but it didn’t work out. Ultimately, you must pay attention to the professionals and what they have to say.
“Since this is my first experience with it, I naturally understand my body.” I’m monitoring everything I do and informing them of what’s happening, as well as what’s good and bad. When that day arrives, I believe we’ll all be in agreement and feeling comfortable.
Deshaun White Not Willing to Give Up the Chance to Play
Despite having practiced twice this week, Watson’s status for Sunday is still unknown. In practice, he seems to have more zip on his ball, but as he begins taking hits again, it’s a whole other story. It will be six weeks on Sunday since he was injured.
When asked what his odds were of playing the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Watson would not provide an estimate.
Watson stated, “I can’t be giving out any percentages right now.” It has been improving every single day. You’re trying to get me to say something, but we’re not authorized to go into great detail about injuries.
He did offer some uncommonly enlightening insight into his circumstances, stating that his health was “going up.”
Watson stated, “Every day it’s getting better.” “The process has been excellent, and we’re just making every effort to strengthen ourselves and our entire team.”
If Deshaun Watson doesn’t play, PJ Walker will take the field.
In the event that Watson is unable to participate, PJ Walker will start. On Wednesday, November 1, the Browns made their plans official after there had been some doubt earlier in the week.
P.J. is still the fallback. Indeed, remarked Kevin Stefanski, head coach of the Browns.
This season, Walker has made three appearances, including two starts. 618 yards, one score, and five interceptions have come from his passes. The Browns have struggled with Walker’s turnovers, and following a three-turnover performance in a defeat to the Seattle Seahawks last week, he pledged to improve.
Following the 24-20 defeat, Walker declared, “If I’m going to be playing, I’ve got to play better to give us a better chance.”
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a rookie, is the Browns’ other option. When Watson was injured in the first game in October, he took the field against the Baltimore Ravens. Thompson-Robinson had three interceptions, therefore he did not do well. Since then, the Browns have not shown any desire to return to him.
