With Jerome Ford sidelined, the Cleveland Browns added depth to their practice squad by acquiring Jordan Wilkins.
A few weeks are anticipated to pass for Ford due to the ankle injury he sustained against the Indianapolis Colts. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the running back for the Browns, who is in his second season, has a low-grade, high ankle sprain.
Due to a knee injury that forced Nick Chubb to miss the whole season in Week 2, Ford assumed the role of lead back. In terms of carries (78) and yards (344), he leads the club. This season, he has averaging 4.4 yards per run.
Wilkins will report to the practice squad, but once he catches up, it’s probable he’ll finish up on the active roster. Before playing the Colts, the Browns added Deon Jackson to their active roster; however, on Monday, October 23, he was released.
Having played for the Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans, the former fifth-round selection has a wealth of experience. Throughout his career, he has made 54 appearances with four starts; all but one have been with the Colts. Throughout his career, he has amassed 1,009 running yards and four touchdowns. Wilkins has recorded 41 receptions for 262 yards when receiving the ball out of the backfield.
In 2018, Wilkins, a Missourian, was selected in the fifth round. Before the draught, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein discussed Wilkins in the following ways.
The description Zierlein provided was that of a “fitness’ runner with good size and great agility, with the lateral agility to elude tacklers in the open field and the speed to make them feel it.” “Wilkins’s aggressive running style does not allow him to take advantage of tacklers, but his vision and footwork might be useful in some situations on the inside.
With Ford down, Kareem Hunt will have to shoulder more of the weight. Not long after Chubb was declared out for the season, on September 21, Hunt was signed by the Browns.
Hunt has been coming back into game form for the Browns, and in the previous two games, he has recorded double-digit carries. Three touchdowns and 32 carries for 103 yards have been hiss; two of those came against the Colts.
With four downs remaining and the game on the line, the Browns leant heavily on Hunt, who was nursing a thigh injury. For the score that would win the game, he bulldozed the ball into the end zone.
How about what I observed? What took that one, do you know? Head coach of the Browns, Kevin Stefanski, stated, “It took guts.” Talk about bravery. On the last play, the elderly guy was standing on one leg and was not going down.
Hunt has also gained 46 yards from five catches. Pierre Strong Jr., who just finished with a season-high eight carries, will assist him. This season, he has averaging 4.9 yards per run.
Browns is still evaluating Deshaun Watson’s condition.
In the event that quarterback Deshaun Watson loses any more time, the run game will become even more crucial. Watson left the game against the Colts after receiving a big hit because of a rotator cuff issue.
It’s unclear how he will do in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, but the Browns are taking things day by day.
Stefanski stated, “As you can imagine, I’m really day-to-day.” “I understand that most of you are probably tired of hearing me say this, but every day we have to make decisions based on the information we have.”
Watson didn’t seem well before leaving the game. He was only one of five for five yards with an interception, and his passes lacked zip.
