All eyes will be on Coventry City in Aprill…..

Ben Sheaf, a defender, scored twice as Mark Robins’ team defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on Saturday to go back into the Championship play-off spots.

Despite going undefeated in their previous nine league games, the Sky Blues are still 15 points outside of the spots that guarantee automatic promotion. They might still be able to influence who places first and second this season, though.

Even though the regular season is still a long way off, it appears that the race for automatic promotion and the play-offs may come down to the very last minute.

There are just six points separating Cardiff City in 14th place and Coventry in sixth place in the play-offs. Meanwhile, Southampton and Leeds United have begun to seriously pressure Ipswich Town in the automatic promotion chase.

Although it’s unclear how close Robins’ team may be to finishing in the top two at the end of the season, they may still choose who advances automatically to the Premier League and who must make the playoffs when it comes to their April schedule.

They play Cardiff City at home to begin the month, and then they host Leeds at the Coventry Building Society Arena. After that, they have a derby match against Birmingham City in between their home match against Southampton and their visit to Ipswich in the West Midlands.

It might turn out to be a crucial month for everyone hoping to make it to the top flight, not just the Sky Blues. As the season approaches its concluding month, Southampton, Ipswich, and Leeds should all have a chance to finish in the top two if the top four maintain their current form. The team that handles Coventry the best may emerge victorious in the fierce battle for second place behind Leicester City.

Coventry’s play-off final agony from the previous season has returned, and they’re looking to use their current form to atone for their Wembley loss to Luton Town.

With the fourth-best defensive record in the Championship—only West Brom, Leeds, and Leicester have allowed less goals than the Sky Blues—they are now the third-placed in-form team, trailing only Leicester and Southampton.

They have five more points now than they did at this stage of the previous season, and since the end of the previous campaign, they have gotten better results versus the best teams in the division.

They have played six games against the current top five in the table, winning the most recent one 3-1 at the Coventry Building Society Arena. They have managed five points against them. They have drawn their last nine games without a loss, including matches against Leeds and Southampton. They have previously suffered defeats to West Brom and Ipswich earlier in the season; the latter was their most recent, and the former came at the hands of the Baggies back in October.

Naturally, if Coventry continues on their current path, a string of impressive performances might propel them into automatic promotion contention come April. The far more likely scenario, though, is that they are trying to secure a spot in the top six at that moment, which will undoubtedly affect the results of the teams right above them in the table.
