Bids rejected for defender linked with Coventry City and more

Hammarby have rejected offers for Nathaniel Adjei who has been linked with Leeds United, Sunderland and Coventry City, as per Swedish reporter Ola Gustavsson (Via Rangers News).

Leeds United, Sunderland, Coventry City and Middlesbrough were among the sides linked with Adjei earlier prior to the January transfer window

After making 21 senior league appearances in Sweden’s top division last season, the 21-year-old central defender is now sought after in England, Scotland, and throughout Europe.

In December, there were reports tying the Ghanaian international to a number of Championship teams.

The sporting director of Hammarby had previously stated that although his team had received offers, they were still hopeful he would choose to remain in Sweden with them.

After a report from Belgium suggested that a deal might co

st up to £4 million, Gustavsson provided an update on Adjei’s future in an interview with Fotboll Direkt (via Rangers News). He declared:

In addition, the Stockholmers have received an offer of more than 25 million Swedish Kroner for Nathaniel Adjei, who had such an exciting season finale.

“However, given how young the product is, the price is a fair distance from expectations.”

Because of the substantial international public interest, Hammarby has the final say, even though it’s unclear which team made the offer for Adjei.

Adjei has a promising future ahead of him, so picking the right club early on is crucial. He played football frequently the previous season, so he won’t want to regress. The 21-year-old obviously has something that draws people in, even though he hasn’t shown much outside of Sweden.

Seeing how this plays out and whether any of the parties decide to up their offer to get closer to Hammarby’s asking price will be interesting to watch.

Leeds United, currently ranked fourth in the Championship, will require defensive reinforcements this month in order to stay in the top six and make their first-ever Premier League return.
