Breaking:Robins final expectation before window closes#

After Coventry City’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City, Mark Robins does not anticipate adding to his squad before the January transfer window closes.
Ellis Simms’ close-range finish on minute 86 allowed City to salvage a point, nullifying Nahki Wells’ goal that had given the Robins the lead three minutes earlier.

Rob Dickie’s header in first-half injury time for the visitors equalised the score for the visitors after Sky Blues midfielder Tatsuhiro Sakamoto opened the scoring with a low finish into the bottom left corner on minute 27.

But even though Robins lost key midfield player Ben Sheaf to injury in the first half, it’s unlikely that he will add any more players before the transfer window closes at 11 p.m. on February 1.

“I think there’s at least one out, we’ve got to try and keep everyone together if we can, but there will be some movement out,” Robins stated when asked if there would be any transfers.

The focus will be on cutting expenses and ensuring that overhead is reasonable; we must ensure that we are not overspending.

“We have some really good players in the building, and we have upgraded in a number of positions, but it’s challenging to do that everywhere. We’re trying to bring in better players.

“We are a small group, so we have to make the most of what we have and try to keep everyone healthy. One injury can have a big impact, and two injuries can make things look disastrous.”

Earlier in the season, Sheaf missed several weeks due to injury, and Robins acknowledged he wasn’t sure how serious the midfielder’s most recent injury was.

“I would assume Hamstring has a tear, which put a dampener on things. He felt a pop, which suggests that he’s torn it. If it’s a bad one, then it could be anything,” Robins continued.

“We have to deal with it; it’s Sod’s law; he hasn’t played yet this season. It’s difficult because, with a small squad, we have about 11 games in 43 days, which is amazing.”

The Sky Blues are still sixth in the Championship table and have won their past ten league games following their draw with Bristol.

The next game for Coventry is on Saturday, February 3 at Carrow Road against Norwich City. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
