Coventry City ‘chase’ the £3m-rated centre back

Coventry City have been credited with an interest in Nathaniel Adjei who is currently playing in Sweden

Nathaniel Adjei, a defender for Hammarby, is a target for Coventry City, according per national press reports.

Mark Robins has reportedly “joined the chase” for the centre half, according to The Sun, although the 21-year-old will cost a “hefty” sum.

They claim that the Sky Blues are not giving up and that they want to make an alluring offer to the Allsvenskan team. Hammarby reportedly wants to pay almost £3 million for a promising player who has represented Ghana’s Under-23 team.

In August 2021, Adjei signed a contract with Hammarby Talang FF, the third-tier feeder club, but the following year, he was elevated to the main team. As his side ended seventh in the league, he participated in 21 of the club’s 23 league games.

The Sky Blues’ rivals for Adjei’s signature are reportedly Preston, but it’s stated that Robins has the financial resources to beat them.

This season, Robins has mostly used a back three, but more recently, with Kyle McFadzean, Liam Kitching, and Bobby Thomas all seeing consistent playing time, he has switched to a four-man back line.

In the 3-0 victory over Millwall on Saturday, McFadzean came off the bench, and Kitching and Thomas combined for an incredibly remarkable triumph. Their next game is scheduled for Tuesday night against Plymouth Argyle.
