Coventry City in battle for £3m-rated Star targeted Leeds United.

Championship news: Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Coventry City and Preston have all been linked with the same player.

The most recent team to be linked to a move for Nathaniel Adjei is Coventry City.

Along with Championship rivals Preston North End and Scottish powerhouses Celtic and Rangers, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are rumoured to be interested in the defender.

Additionally, national reports claim that Championship teams are showing more interest in the 21-year-old Ghanaian defender, with Coventry City and Leeds United being the most recent to be linked.

Adjei plays for Hammarby IF in the Allsvenskan in Sweden. It has been reported that Rangers have sent scouts to watch him, and new reports now indicate that Leeds United and Coventry City are also interested.

According to reports, a club looking to sign Adjei would need to shell out between £2.6 million and £3.5 million. It has been reported that Coventry, having recovered a substantial amount of money from last summer’s sales, may be in a strong position to win the race.

In addition to Luke O’Nien, who is currently Tony Mowbray’s first choice, and Dan Ballard, Jensen Seelt, and Nectar Triantis, Sunderland also has options in Dennis Cirkin, Aji Alese, and Trai Hume at centre back.
