Last season, the Sky Blues marginally missed out on promotion to the Premier League, losing out to Luton Town in a penalty shootout at Wembley. With the losses of Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer, many believed that Coventry would tail off this campaign, but that has certainly not been the case so far.
The Sky Blues, who have only lost eight of their 33 league games this season, are sixth in the Championship table as of February 18 and are proving to be quite tough to beat. They are very much in the running for the playoffs once more, but the clubs below them will give them plenty of competition.
A major contributor to Coventry’s on-field success this year has been their attacking midfielder, Callum O’Hare. Due to an injury, the 25-year-old missed the first few games of the season, but since making a comeback, he has contributed significantly to their attacking performance. Regretfully, O’Hare may be leaving in the summer, thus Coventry will need to find a replacement. League One promotion candidates may be given a look.
O’Hare’s contract situation
Since O’Hare’s contract is scheduled to expire in the summer, many clubs will be thrilled to learn that he will be a free agency at the end of the season if a deal is not reached between the player and the club.
Although it is known that O’Hare has received a new contract offer, he acknowledged in a Sky Sports interview last month that he was unaware of the progress of the negotiations.
“They actually offered me one, but at the minute, honestly, I don’t have a clue what’s going on,”
Everyone at the club is aware of my deep passion for this place, so it goes without saying that I have a unique bond with the supporters. All I can say is that I’m going to give it my all to win games here; we’ll see what happens. Really, that’s all that matters. Give the club your all.”
