Coventry City star Milan van Ewijk had a particularly damning verdict on Manchester United ahead of their FA Cup semi-final clash.
The Championship club have had a fairy tale run in the competition in which they booked their place in the last four of the tournament with a last-minute triumph against Wolves, thanks to Haji Wright’s stoppage-time winner at the Molineux Stadium.
The win set up a pivotal semifinal matchup with Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, who defeated title challengers Liverpool 4-3 thanks to a goal from Amad Diallo in the 120th minute. Erik ten Hag’s team had an equally spectacular showing.
Next month, the Sky Blues will play the 12-time FA Cup winners at Wembley. This will be Coventry’s first trip this far in the competition since they won the trophy in 1987, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in overtime.
If they defeat United, Mark Robbins’ team, who are presently sitting ninth in the Championship and only four points below the final playoff spot with a game remaining, would face Chelsea or the defending champions Manchester City in a massive final.
The players at the CBS Arena appear to be playing with unprecedented confidence, especially right-back Milan van Ewijk, who made a pointed public jab at Manchester United before their matchup next month.
After the semi-final draw, the 23-year-old talked to ZiggoSport and said, “The draw is alright, against Man City you pretty much have no chance.” Respectfully, Man United is a premier team, but occasionally things don’t go as planned.

Despite their recent troubles, Man United is a very different animal from Coventry, who have faced and defeated teams like Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Maidstone United, and Wolves.
The Championship team has important league games ahead of the semi-final in their quest to make the playoffs for the second straight year.
