Heartbroken mum of footballer who was killed for ‘agreeing with thug’s compliment’ dies
After her son Jordan Sinnott was slain while out on the town, his mother was left in deep grief and dedicated years to fundraising. However, Melanie Tait sadly passed away from cancer recently.
Four years after her son’s death, the mother of a football player who passed away after being punched after a night out fought cancer and eventually passed away.
In January 2020, three men attacked 25-year-old Jordan Sinnott during a night out. Sinnott died as a result. Jordan’s distraught mother Melanie Tait assumed the role of chair of a philanthropic foundation that his fiancée Kelly Bossons had established in his honour. Melanie contributed funds for the trust for many years, including leaping out of an aircraft to earn money earlier this year. The trust’s mission was to encourage underprivileged children to participate in sports. However, after years of battle cancer, the charity has officially informed that Melanie passed away this past weekend.
The Jordan Sinnott Foundation Trust shared on Facebook, “With heavy hearts, we would like to share the devastating news that yesterday, after a long fight with Cancer, our beautiful Melanie has gained her wings.” “Our family is deeply saddened and requests that privacy be honoured during this trying time. Mel, please give Jord a big hug; you two have our undying love. Peace be with you.”
On January 25, 2020, while competing for the non-league Matlock Town, Jordan passed away. Following their manslaughter convictions for the killing, Kai Denovan, then 22 years old, and Cameron Matthews, then 21 years old, were given prison terms of 11 and 8 years, respectively. Sean Nicholson, the third, entered a guilty plea to affray.
Denovan allegedly told Jordan he was a “good looking lad” who would have “no trouble pulling girls” during the murder trial. Denovan claimed that because he was “fat and ginger,” this was not like him. When he said, “Yes, I can see that,” Jordan assumed he was getting in on the joke, but Denovan did not take it well. After finishing three pints of Southern Comfort and lemonades, two pints of Strongbow and five beers of Stella, Denovan punched Jordan, who had left the bar.
However, both kept hitting Jordan until Matthews delivered a blow that knocked the semi-pro football player to the ground and fractured his skull. After suffering from brain damage for a few hours, Jordan sadly passed away, leaving behind his mother, fiancée, and father, former Bradford and Crystal Palace football player Lee Sinnott. Kelly found out she was pregnant after Jordan passed away, and she gave birth to their daughter, Maisie.
