Latest Coventry City news from CoventryLive as Mark Robins has his say on the departure of Dave Boddy as well as incoming chief operating officer John Taylor
Although Mark Robins acknowledges he hasn’t had a chance to meet John Taylor, the new chief operational officer, he is excited to collaborate with the former Nottingham Forest player following Dave Boddy’s official departure.
After more than six years with the Sky Blues, Boddy will depart Coventry City in January. The club’s ascent has been greatly aided by the former chief executive of Newport County, who took Coventry from a League Two team in 2018 to a Premier League team that needed a penalty shootout to win in May of this year.
And Sky Blues boss Robins admits he will miss working with Boddy when he departs in the new year.
“He’s a brilliant person we’ve had around,” Robins said. “He has been fantastic for me and for the football club and he’s helped facilitate all of the things, all the decisions, all of the the options that we’ve had.
“We’ve sifted through, we’ve planned a course and then stuck with it and it’s been successful to this point. Obviously, things change. Dave feels it’s the right time for him to do something else, maybe recharge his batteries I saw him say but ultimately go on and do whatever he chooses to do next and wish him all the best in whatever he does.
Robins also adds that he is looking forward to working with Taylor when they eventually meet. “No, I haven’t met him and I don’t know him,” he said.
“But again, that will be another relationship to build. Things are changing and I look forward to meeting him.”
