Coventry City Football Club has expanded its partnership with StatsBomb with a significant upgrade to the club’s existing data package.
The strategic move from the EFL SkyBet Championship club underscores its growing commitment to leveraging advanced analytics for a competitive edge in their domestic competitions.
The upgraded deal grants the Sky Blues enhanced access to StatsBomb’s advanced performance data, and provides the club with an unparalleled depth of insights into player performance, opposition analysis, and strategic game planning.
By expanding league and data access, Coventry City will also be able to expand their scouting and recruitment searches across key leagues in Europe and tap into previously unexplored global markets.
Speaking about the renewed partnership, Jack Coles, Head of Data and Analysis at Coventry City, said:
“We are delighted to be extending our working relationship with StatsBomb.” The club’s new ownership has been fantastic in terms of ambition, and I’m grateful that this new deal will help us achieve our aim of being a club synonymous with high-level, data-driven decision making and workflows throughout the club.
“We want to move forward as an institution that makes positive, data-driven short and long-term decisions, and this level of investment, combined with our staff and personnel, will assist us in doing so.” I am convinced that we will fulfil our goals on the field and become a top-tier analytical department in the next years, and this data will be critical to that.”
Scott Johnson, Senior Analyst, StatsBomb, added:
Coventry is one of our earliest customers, joining in 2020 with a small package led by former Head of Analysis Paul Travis. Since then, they’ve been promoted from League One to the Championship, where they’ve consistently outperformed their peers, coming one kick away from a position in the Premier League this season.
“The new ownership has significantly increased investment in analytics, and we are excited to launch a new partnership with them for a comprehensive data package.”
“This package will assist them in expanding their player recruitment globally, allowing them to find talent in untapped markets.” We appreciate Jack Coles, Dean Austin, Mark Robins, and Doug King’s continuous faith in our data.”
