Really interesting’ next manager conversation with Coventry City loan man*

CoventryLive brings you Coventry City loan updates while the Sky Blues manager updates the status of midfielder Ryan Howley’s season-long loan to Dundee.

Ryan Howley, a Coventry City prospect, is expected to have a “really interesting” conversation with Mark Robins when he returns after a season-long loan stay that hasn’t gone as planned.

The midfielder from Nuneaton, England, moved to Dundee in August after being courted by the Scottish team. Gordon Strachan, the technical director of Dundee and a former Sky Blues manager, was involved in the transfer. At the time, Robins stated that the Academy alumnus “needed to go and play because he’s been training and playing with us for about three years,” adding that he was unable to guarantee game time because there were players ahead of him.

The manager added that although Howley had been visited by Strachan, Tony Docherty, the Dundee manager, was eventually “pushing to get it done” because he was “really keen on him” after seeing him several times.

The 20-year-old, who signed a two-year contract extension with the Sky Blues in June that runs until the summer of 2025, has started one FA Cup game and made eight substitute appearances in addition to two starts in the Scottish Premiership. When he made his debut in September of last year in front of nearly 60,000 fans at Celtic’s Parkhead, where Dundee lost 3-0, he was given a baptism of fire.
