A car crashed into a tree on Brinklow Road in Binley just before 11pm
This evening, a major thoroughfare through Birmingham is stopped while emergency services handle a serious crash. Emergency services responding to a crash on Coventry Road this evening include West Midlands Police.
It is believed that the collision—which the police have stated involved a car and a motorcycle—occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. As emergency response teams work at the location this evening, there will be major traffic disruptions for drivers.
Police have warned that there would be significant disruptions to traffic leaving Birmingham, and buses have also been rerouted out of the region. It has been advised for drivers to “avoid the area.”
Due to the present closure of the eastbound portion of the A45 Coventry Road, access to Solihull and Birmingham Airport will be impacted. Heavy traffic is being reported by live traffic systems in the area
The driver, a second man, and two women who were passengers suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to hospital. Another man, who was also a passenger, suffered non-serious injuries and was also taken to hospital.
The crash happened on Brinklow Road, Binley just before 11am last night.

One person has sadly died and five people have been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision in Binley last night
At 10:57 p.m., West Midlands Ambulance Service was alerted to a collision on Brinklow Road, Binley in Coventry, involving a car and a tree. At the scene were five ambulances, three paramedic officers, an Air Ambulance Service Critical Care Car, a MERIT trauma doctor, and a critical care paramedic.
According to a spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service, “we found six patients from the car upon arrival.”In the first, a man who was a passenger in the vehicle was found to have injuries that may have killed him.
“He received advanced life support from ambulance personnel, but sadly, nothing more could be done to rescue him, and he was pronounced dead at the site.
