Tragedy as man dies after huge response outside hotel in Coventry

A man died after emergency services were called to a scene in Balsall Common. A large 999 presence was seen outside the Haig’s Hotel on Kenilworth Road.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it received a 999 call to report a medical emergency at just after 2.45pm on Saturday afternoon, September 7. Two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were dispatched to the scene.

The spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a medical emergency on Kenilworth Road at 2.46pm, two ambulances and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

We found one patient, a male, who was very ill when we arrived. He was pronounced dead at the spot after ambulance personnel started providing advanced life support right away. Regretfully, despite their best efforts, it became clear nothing could be done to save him.
