After his 227-yard performance, quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys isn’t holding back when discussing CeeDee Lamb.
On a night when the Detroit Lions missed three consecutive two-point tries and the Cowboys prevailed 20-19, Lamb’s record-breaking performance made the game memorable. Lamb not only recorded a career-high 13 catches and 227 yards, but he also eclipsed Michael Irvin’s franchise single-season record in terms of receiving yards (1,651 to 1,603) and receptions (122 to Irvin’s 111).
Prescott obviously thinks the 24-year-old receiver isn’t done breaking records after throwing a 92-yard touchdown pass to Lamb in the first quarter.
After the game, Prescott remarked, “He’s really just getting going and I can tell you as long as I’m here, he’ll probably stack these records and every single year, to be honest with you.”
With one game remaining in the regular season, Lamb broke both of Irvin’s receiving records—he set the records for receptions in 1995 and receiving yards in 1991—which supports the theory that Lamb will “stack” records as his career in Dallas develops.
Since joining the NFL in 2020, Lamb’s receiving totals, including receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns, have only increased with time.
Lamb’s 200-yard effort was also the most by a Cowboys receiver in a single game since 2019′
s Amari Cooper achieved the same feat.
CeeDee Lamb Sends Message on Setting Cowboys Franchise Records
After breaking the franchise records, Lamb remarked, “It’s a surreal moment,” according to Charean Williams of NBC Sports. “Obviously, I’d like to thank my guys. We keep working, keeping creating, and keeping expanding. It demonstrated that without them, I couldn’t accomplish any of this. We hope to maintain it going forward.
Regarding breaking more records, Lamb echoed Prescott’s sentiment, emphasising that this is his new “standard.”
Lamb declared, “I still want to break [more of] them.” “I approach whatever I set for myself with the tenacity of a tiger. Of course I’m going to like it. However, as of right now, that’s my new benchmark and expectation. Working is something I enjoy doing.
When the Cowboys play the Washington Commanders in their final regular season game, the two-time Pro Bowl receiver will have the chance to further extend his record. Earlier on Thanksgiving, Lamb had four receptions for 53 receiving yards and one touchdown in a 45-10 victory over the Commanders.
Following his record-breaking performance, Lamb was actually issued a drug test by the NFL as RJ Ochoa of SB Nation’s Blogging the Boys noted.
