29 goals last season: Crystal Palace, Fulham in race to bring 28-year-old back

Crystal Palace and Fulham are reportedly keen on signing the Ajax forward Chuba Akpom.

A report from TeamTalk claims that the two Premier League clubs are looking to bring the 28-year-old back to English football and it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with Ajax. They have already made enquiries for the player.

The Dutch team appears prepared to explore a loan agreement in January, which may end up being a worthwhile purchase for both teams.

Last season, Akpom excelled in the Championship, scoring 29 goals for Middlesbrough in all competitions. Additionally, he was selected as the Championship Player of the Year.

He might find football to be an appealing choice, and he will undoubtedly be eager to demonstrate his abilities in the Premier League.

He would be motivated to establish himself in the top division of English football as it would be a significant career advancement. For the two clubs, taking on a player of his calibre on loan can also prove to be a wise investment. They would still have resources to bolster the other members of their group.

Odsonne Edouard and Jean-Philippe Mateta might split the goal scoring load with Akpom if Crystal Palace decides to add more depth to their attack.

The 28-year-old Ajax forward might be a helpful substitute for Aleksandar Mitrovic, who Fulham has yet to replace with a quality player.
