Ahead of 2024 we thought it the ideal time to look at three dream signings Crystal Palace could sign in January.
Crystal Palace could be set for a busy January transfer window with multiple positions seeing players linked with the attack seemingly the priority.
Various strikers have been linked with making the move to Selhurst Park including Getafe’s star forward Borja Mayoral. Another number nine linked is Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho who is real possibility given his contract situation.
On the wing options have included Matias Soule who now appears to be closer to a Southampton move than Palace. While the defence is also being discussed amid fears of a Marc Guehi exit, with Trevoh Chalobah the name hottest right now.
These however are some of the likelier arrivals at Selhurst Park in 2024, but here we’re instead looking at three of the more ambitious and dream signings Palace could make in January or next summer…
Eddie Nketiah
This move would probably depend on a number of different factors some of which are out of Palace’s control. Eddie Nketiah is a top striker and therefore a top asking price is expected along with stiff competition for his signature.
Arsenal also aren’t desperate to sell Nketiah and likely will only do so if an offer in the region of £40m is received which would fund a move for Ivan Toney.
Despite a lofty asking price, he absolutely could be worth every penny for Palace as a move away from the bright lights of The Emirates could see him thrive as a star man – replacing Jean-Philippe Mateta who is set to leave.
So there are multiple reasons Nketiah is on our dream signing list – one also being the fact he and Ebere Eze are close which could make for some exciting link-up play on the pitch. Eze also in the past has raved about Nketiah claiming he has the potential to go as ‘high as he wants‘.
Roony Bardghji
Number two on the list is probably even more ambitious than Nketiah and would take some seriously impressive work from Steve Parish to pull it off.
Palace have been linked with Roony Bardghji who is one of the most exciting prospects in Europe and he has half of the continents elite sides chasing him. But Copenhagen are believed to be ready to sell him in order to cash-in.
With the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Juventus interested it wouldn’t be an easy deal to complete but with the right offer of first team football, there’s no reason Palace couldn’t persuade him – especially if he’d be working under an exciting young coach like Kieran McKenna or Steve Cooper.
Youssoufa Moukouko
They don’t get much more dream move than this one. Supremely talented 19-year-old German forward Youssoufa Moukoko currently of Borussia Dortmund rounds out our shortlist.
In November it was suggested the German could be searching for gametime and an exit from the Signal Iduna Park could therefore be on the cards.
Among clubs interested, Palace were named as a possible destination for Moukoko and while in reality a loan move is probably the likely outcome, it was reported that a permanent move couldn’t be ruled out.
Therefore he’s definitely a dream signing, if Palace signed Moukoko it would be a statement which would make waves across Europe. As unlikely as this is, it would be a dream as he’d be a special player to have.
