Crystal Palace Gain major advantage over Fulham for Hatters Defender

Sports writer Fabrizio Romano from Italy claims that Luton’s Teden Mengi is a target for Town’s Premier League rivals Fulham and Crystal Palace.

The 21-year-old, who spent 14 years at Old Trafford representing Manchester United at every level—captaining the U18s and going on to make two first team appearances—joined the Hatters back in August after being granted permission to leave the club. Mengi signed as a player for the future, but he made his Hatters debut in the Carabao Cup loss against Exeter. In the Premier League, he made his debut off the bench in the 2-1 victory over Everton due to injuries.

After making a late appearance in the 1-0 home loss to Spurs, the former England youth international started his first game for the Hatters in the 2-1 loss to Burnley. He then started the next 11 Premier League games for the team, scoring his first goal in the 2-1 victory over the Eagles. Mengi ha

Romano tweeted today, indicating that other elite teams are taking notice of his performances: “Understand Fulham and Crystal Palace are now following Luton Town’s CB Teden Mengi for the future.” By leading U-21 players with the highest percentage of defensive duels won in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season, he has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most promising young players.

Maintaining Mengi will be a top priority for Town manager Rob Edwards, who has already declared that he will not be seeking to erode his team during the January transfer window in an effort to guide the Hatters to Premier League safety. He declared: “If we don’t think it’s right for the football club, we won’t be letting anyone go we do seek to include others, but only in order to fortify ourselves.

“We want to keep our Premier League status, so we won’t weaken ourselves.” I want everyone in the group to be fighting for the same goal together. This group has a special bond and spirit, and we are stronger with everyone in it and together, so that will require maintaining our unity. It is my hope that this will help.
