Crystal palace in Concrete Talk to land £60,000-a-week man

Crystal Palace are now set to open talks with star midfielder Cheick Doucoure over a potential new deal

The squad at Selhurst Park is incredibly talented, which is a bright positive despite all of the issues and instability that exist right now.

There is a lot of attention and uncertainty surrounding the managerial situation because 76-year-old Roy Hodgson will eventually retire in 2024.

Furthermore, it has been stated that John Textor, who is growing tired of Steve Parish, is eager to sell his 45% interest, putting the ownership status in jeopardy.

Fans are naturally weary of this campaign given those drawbacks and some terrible play, but at last some positive news has surfaced.

Cheick Doucoure, a midfielder of Copers Cope Road, is among the best players in the ranks.

Even though the 23-year-old Mali international has been sidelined for a few months, the club is obviously aware of his quality as evidenced by the talk of a new deal.

Now according to South London Press journalist, Edmund Brack on X, Palace are preparing to initiate contract talks with Doucoure regarding an upgrade on his existing £60k-a-week contract at Selhurst Park.

As The Independent first revealed in early December, Doucoure underwent surgery to treat his Achilles injury, but expectations are strong that he will play again this campaign.

Given that Jurgen Klopp expressed strong interest in the team last summer, the new contract is probably going to deter Liverpool and other Premier League teams from expressing additional interest.

Doucoure was on Liverpool’s radar in the summer, when a possible £50 million deal was said to be in the works. This ultimately failed to materialise, as Liverpool signed Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch on a loan basis instead—both of whom fell short of the necessary calibre.

This might make Palace open to Doucoure’s interest once more, but Liverpool might be persuaded to take notice by a new deal that has a sizable release clause.

Doucoure may have a similar role to Michael Olise’s in ensuring Palace get top market value for their jewels, much as Olise did when he signed a new contract to stave off Chelsea.
