Crystal Palace in hunt to sign West Brom ace to fill immediate gap.

The Sun journalist reported via his Patreon on Saturday (11 February) that Roy Hodgson’s side are looking for a new goalkeeper as they expect Sam Johnstone to leave Selhurst Park if he remains on the bench for the remainder of the season.

Despite spending the most of the season rooted to the bench behind Alex Palmer, Baggies stopper Griffiths is one player who has drawn attention as he finishes his first full season of Championship football.

West Brom could lose Josh Griffiths to Crystal Palace

Since Carlos Corberan’s club doesn’t have a tonne of depth already, West Brom won’t want to lose any of its first-team players this summer. However, if Albion does lose a player, Griffiths might not be the worst choice.

The youthful custodian has shown promise while on loan at The Hawthorns thus far in his career, but he hasn’t quite been able to advance to Corberan’s first team this year, primarily because to Alex Palmer’s outstanding play.

Griffiths has seemed as a reliable keeper in the FA Cup and League Cup when he has played, but he hasn’t been quite as successful as the Baggies’ top goalie. Albion would have to take the offer into consideration if Palace made a sizable offer for his services.

At The Hawthorns, money is scarce right now, and West Brom might not be able to pass up the opportunity to generate some much-needed cash for someone who is ultimately a backup choice.

This contract may be contingent upon the kind of interest expressed in Palmer at the end of the season, particularly if he keeps up his strong play in goal.

In other West Brom news, the most recent Sky Sports development at The Hawthorns will infuriate Baggies fans.
