Crystal Palace leading 3 teams in battle to sign ‘fearless’ £20m forward:

Crystal Palace are one of the sides keen on Iliman Ndiaye following an unsuccessful move to French side Marseille, according to reports.

Sheffield United let go of Iliman Ndiaye in the summer with Ligue 1 side Marseille declaring their interest before eventually buying the exciting forward but has started just 8 times for the French side this season.

Unsurprisingly, his former club Sheffield United are also said to be on the team’s keeping a close eye on the 23-year-old’s forward situation at the French club.

Despite joining the Ligue 1 side for £20 million, he has only scored once for Marseille, who could be prepared to cut their losses.

Palace’s interest

According to a report from The Sun, it’s not only the Blades who are interested but Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace are also said to be keeping a close eye on the situation around the forward’s future.

He has scored just one goal for Marseille and the French side seem ready to cut their losses on the Senegalese forward, which could be good news for the South London club if they are keen on signing the 23-year-old.

He scored 22 goals in 88 games for Sheffield United including 14 in the Championship last season as his side clinched second spot and a return to the Premier League.

Marseille are said to be interested in Arsenal midfielder Fabio Viera as a potential replacement for the Senegalese forward, with Newcastle and West Ham interested in Ndiaye, too.

Palace’s need for goals

Ndiaye was a popular figure at Bramall Lane and he could be the exact type of player that Hodgson needs to lead the line in an attack that has struggled to perform consistently for the Eagles.

Palace have scored just 17 goals in the Premier League this season which is the joint third least in the division with Luton Town (17), Nottingham Forest (17), Burnley (16) and Sheffield United (12).

“He’s a lovely lad, always smiling. Very popular. Fearless, a tough kid. Strong on the ball and not nice to play against,” Sheffield United’s head of player development Jack Lester told the Daily Mail about the forward.

Adding Ndiaye, who already has experience of scoring goals in England, may well be the key for Palace as they bid to push themselves away from relegation trouble.

Picking up a point at the Etihad Stadium against the champions after being two goals down is a good sign that the South London club can avoid the drop.
