Crystal Palace make contact to sign right-back who John Textor admitted he wants:

Crystal Palace have now made contact to sign Wesley from Flamengo – a player John Textor loves.

That is according to Coluna do Fla.

So, what is the situation involving Crystal Palace and Wesley? Let’s take a look…

Crystal Palace enquire about Wesley

Well, the Eagles are in desperate need of a new right-back as Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne struggle.

Now – however – it appears Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman have finally acted.

The story from Coluna do Fla claims that Crystal Palace have asked what it will take to sign Wesley, who has also been the subject of enquiries from Brighton and Wolves.

It is said that the 20-year-old would like to leave Flamengo to play in Europe.

Coluna do Fla add that Barcelona came close to signing Wesley at the start of 2023 – although the Spanish giants were unable to go ahead with the deal due to financial reasons.

The Açailândia-born defender made 56 appearances for Flamengo in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring two goals while also providing one assist.

Coluna do Fla believe Flamengo are happy to sell Wesley if the money is right, as he enters the final two years of his contract at the Maracanã Stadium.

John Textor wants Wesley at Crystal Palace

There could genuinely be something in this rumour – as Textor has previously admitted that he wants the Brazilian to move to Selhurst Park.

The American – who has connections in Brazilian football due to his ownership of Botafogo – recently told ESPN: “I like Wesley, he’s a good boy. I want him at Crystal Palace.”

Additionally, Freedman has already negotiated with Flamengo this year over the £26m signing of Matheus Franca – so relations with the South American side should be healthy.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Crystal Palace could be signing Wesley this winter.
