A significant injury boost has been given to Mauricio Pochettino before of Chelsea’s match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tonight.
Levi Colwill hasn’t played for Chelsea in the last four games.
The Evening Standard claims that the defender has recovered from his injury and could play in south London tonight.
Now that Benoit Badiashile is out for the season, Colwill’s return is well-timed. The journey to Selhurst Park won’t be possible with the Frenchman absent.
Mauricio Pochettino stated at the press conference prior to kickoff that Chelsea would have to wait until Sunday to find out if the 20-year-old will be ready for tonight’s London derby. It appears that he is.
Colwill is a perfect fit to enter the side now that Badiashile is out of the contest.
Colwill is a left-footed central defender, similar to the former AS Monaco player.
Though the England international makes sense, Pochettino was using him as a left-back prior to his injury, and he is currently recovering from one.
It implies that Colwill’s approval is not assured. Even though the Brazilian was left off of the squad for Chelsea’s most recent match, Thiago Silva is still a possibility.
However, it appears that Badiashile and Colwill will be Chelsea’s two primary choices for the left center-back position in the long run. But the latter will have to get past his injury problems.
The young player from Chelsea and Silva may have to fight for that roster slot in the interim.
The Blues proceed to the Etihad after Palace.
