Body of missing man found dead in Bowness On Windermere

The Middlesbrough student was discovered close to the lake’s Rayrigg Wyke area, according to police searching for him.

The body of missing Middlesbrough student Matthew Jordan has been discovered by police.

Just before 430 p.m., police verified that the body discovered in Lake Windermere this morning belonged to the former Nunthorpe School student.

The Police Marine Unit discovered the 20-year-old’s body in the lake earlier today.

After carrying out an identification process, Cumbria Police are no longer considering the death to be suspicious.

Officers are currently providing for Matthew’s family.

“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family at this tragic time,” said Detective Inspector Furzana Nazir.

“The amount of support shown in Matthew’s search was amazing.

“We are incredibly grateful to all of our supporters—from friends and family to the general public, the neighbourhood, and affiliated organizations—for their invaluable support.

“We are still providing for the family during this extremely trying time.”

The Gazette earlier today revealed that police looking for Matthew had discovered a body in Lake Windermere today.

Following the disappearance of the Teesside University student, the lake has been searched by divers and boat patrols in the last few weeks.

Around 10.20 a.m., police discovered a man’s body in the water close to the Windermere Steamboats Museum in the Rayrigg Wyke area of the lake.

That was the location where the missing man’s scent was last detected by police dogs.

After spending the night out with friends, the former Nunthorpe School student disappeared in Bowness-on-Windermere early in the morning.

Ever since, police, relatives, friends, and numerous strangers who volunteered to assist have conducted extensive searches of Windermere and the surrounding area.

Since their son—their only child—went missing last month, Bob and Clare Jordan, Matthew’s parents, have been living in Cumbria.

They have been handing out flyers in the town, which is a well-liked destination for tourists.

In the meantime, a large number of volunteers—some of whom own boats—have been assiduously working to find Matthew.

Mrs. Jordan previously stated: “We are so grateful to everyone who has adopted Matthew into their hearts.

“We just need to find him, regardless of the result or whether he is still alive.”

The coroner will be notified, according to police reports.
