Following a multi-vehicle incident on the M25 this morning (Wednesday, July 31), two persons were injured and hospitalised. Shortly after 10 a.m., traffic was stopped on the motorway’s anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 3 for Swanley and Junction 2 for Dartford.
Four cars were involved in the crash, which has been confirmed. At the time, an early bulletin from the traffic monitoring firm Inrix stated: “There is a long delay owing to an accident before J2 A2 (Darenth Interchange), and M25 anticlockwise is blocked.” Before J3 (Swanley Interchange), there is congestion. Around 10:05 a.m., all traffic stopped.
Officers from Kent Police and crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene, with all traffic held until shortly before 11am. Lane closures then followed to allow recovery works to be completed. National Highways reported delays of over an hour and four miles of traffic stretching back to the M25 Junction 4 for Orpington at the incident’s peak A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 9.39am Today Wednesday 31 July, to a collision involving four cars on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25 near Junction 2. Officers and paramedics attended the scene where two people were treated for injuries
.”Arrangements are in place to retrieve two of the vehicles, and they were transported to a nearby hospital for additional medical care.” The two individuals’ injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
As of this writing, recovery efforts are still underway, and one lane on the M25 anticlockwise between Junctions 3 and 2 is still closed. Our live blog will be updated with the most recent information about this incident.
