Following a collision involving a car and a motorbike on the motorway this afternoon, traffic increased on a congested section of the M25 close to Dartford. Between Junction 3 (for the M20 and Swanley Interchange) and Junction 2 (for the A2 and Darenth Interchange), two lanes of the anticlockwise carriageway had to close for several hours.
Travel maps from the time indicated that as a result, traffic was moving slowly along the anticlockwise carriageway. At the height of the incident, National Highways reported delays of about half an hour between the two junctions. Drivers also experienced traffic jams and delays on the northbound A282 route, which led to the Dartford Crossing, and the M25 in an anticlockwise direction.
Service for tracking traffic and travel The Dartford Tunnels had wait times of more than an hour, according to Inrix. It has been confirmed by the police that a motorcyclist was hurt in the collision that happened between Junctions 3 and 2.
