After an air ambulance was observed landing on the Dartford freeway, a woman was transported to a hospital in London with injuries.
There are two hours of tailbacks for drivers on the M25 and across the Dartford Crossing after several cars collided, injuring one woman.
As National Highways issues a warning about “severe delays,” an air ambulance was observed landing on the roadway close to the A282.
Emergency personnel present on the scene include Kent Police and the county’s fire and rescue department.
About 5:00 p.m., they were first alerted to a collision between a van and a truck.
“Officers attended and one woman was taken to a London hospital for treatment,” a police spokesman stated.
Drivers are urged to choose alternate routes due to the area’s present high level of congestion if possible.”
It is not believed that her injuries are life-threatening.
Drivers report being backed up for 11 kilometres in a southbound traffic jam.
Also, there is a four-mile backlog heading north, according to National Highways.
Congestion on the A282 is causing delays in both directions and has reached Junction 29 of the M25.
The M25 is closed clockwise between J30 (Purfleet-on-Thames) and the A282 southbound J2 (Dartford) following a multi-vehicle incident, according to a statement from National Highway.
There are reports of severe delays on the M25 clockwise from J29 to the A282 J2, with travel times up to two hours longer than usual, and around eleven miles of traffic jams.
“There have been reports of 60-minute delays on the M25 in the opposite direction between J3 (M20, Swanley) and J1a (Dartford).”
After being stranded in gridlock for over three hours with no indication that the freeway will reopen, drivers expressed their rage about 7 p.m.
“M25 in both directions blocked, severe delays due to accident and multi-vehicle accident from J1B A296 Princes Road (Dartford) to J2 A2 (Darenth Interchange),” the traffic monitoring site Inrix previously reported.
As the A13 approaches the M25, there is congestion to the J28 (A12 Brook Street Roundabout) with delays in both directions. The line is moving anticlockwise back to J3 (the M20 Swanley interchange).
“Ongoing since about 4:15 p.m., with both sides currently blocked to allow a safe landing for an air ambulance.”
“UPDATE: M25 / A282 J1A – J1B,” said Kent County Council. In a clockwise manner: There are reports that there is a multi-vehicle collision on the clockwise lane causing traffic to be held in BOTH directions on the M25 / A282 between J1A and J1b.
