To combat gender prejudice in football, the Rams have teamed up with Her Game Too.
By collaborating with Her Game Too, Derby County has demonstrated its ongoing support for women’s football and women in football in general.
The Rams announced the move on their website, stating that they are joining a campaign that was started three years ago and has rapidly expanded to include over 130 volunteers at clubs across the nation, as part of their commitment to “tackling gender discrimination and misogyny” in the game.
In May 2023, Simran Atwal, a lifetime football enthusiast, was chosen by Her Game Too to serve as Derby County’s committed Ambassador for the campaign, which aims to make football fields a friendly and safe place for women to come and play.
Derby County has a sizable female fan following, and it is crucial that everyone feels supported and included in the community’, Simran stated. This collaboration is a significant step towards ensuring that all female fans feel equally respected and appreciated and demonstrates a strong commitment to combating sexism in the sport.
As a lifelong Derby County supporter, I must say that it is amazing to see us work with the campaign that I am so passionate about promoting. Representing female Derby County supporters is an honour, and the club’s commitment to supporting Her Game Too is extremely meaningful.
“As a club, we’re proud to announce our new partnership with Her Game Too, to help raise awareness and tackle sexism in football, and to further showcase our mission to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for women and girls at our games,” stated Sophie Roddie, Derby County’s Matchday and Fan Engagement Lead.
We have exciting plans to continue promoting the outstanding work done by Derby County Football Club and Her Game Too for the remainder of 2024–2025 and beyond.
