After the Royals’ contentious loss at Derby County, Reading manager Ruben Selles acknowledged he was “more proud than frustrated”.
In a match where Andy Yiadom received a second yellow card despite making little to no contact at all before Derby won a penalty because Dwight Gayle looked to control the ball, the Royals lost 2-1.
Selles remarked, “I think I am more proud than frustrated.”
“I am pleased with the effort my team made. They are among the top in the category and a very challenging team.
We had a challenging first half, but we got off to a great start in the second. We gave up a goal in a play, but we usually find it tough to get a red card when we have ten men on the pitch.
Regarding the controversial calls made by the referee, Selles stated: “I watched the tape and came to my own conclusion.
“We’ll battle against everyone and anything that stands in our way.
“We’ll battle against everyone and anything that stands in our way.
We will exert more effort, score five goals, and play longer if necessary because these players have persevered in the face of adversity. Another illustration of our competitive nature was shown today.
Although the game was tied at the end and Derby is a strong squad, we didn’t win the choices.
Selles went on, “We want to play again and do it in front of our fans. The last couple of games were disappointing with the result, and we know we need to be on point from the very beginning.” He was referring to the Saturday matchup against Cambridge United.
“We are excited for Saturday, putting on a competitive show, fighting against all odds, and hopefully getting a result.”
Er, quite a helping of tripe talked there. We all know how poor the referees are in this division; this time around the poor decisions mainly fell against Reading.
