Defender reveals what gives Derby clear advantage over Bolton ,Portsmouth and Barnsley’

Derby remain seven points behind league-leaders Pompey with 10 games of the season remaining

Eiran Cashin, a defender for the Derby, believes he knows what will guarantee the Rams a championship run at the end of the season and surprise their rivals for promotion.

The center-half, who has played 34 League One games for Paul Warne’s squad this season, thinks that his teammates’ mental toughness provides them a distinct advantage over the opposition as the season nears its conclusion.

Derby slid to third place in the standings and outside of the automatic promotion spots on Tuesday night after Bolton’s 2-2 draw with fellow Championship contenders Barnsley. They are currently one point behind Wanderers and seven behind league leaders Pompey with ten games left in the season, which they will play at Fratton Park on Tuesday, April 2.

The teams chasing Derby are Barnsley, Peterborough, Oxford, Stevenage, and Blackpool. While it’s more likely that they’ll advance through the play-offs, all of them still have high aspirations to gain promotion.

Derby has their work cut out for them in order to secure an automatic promotion berth and keep those behind them in the table at bay. They also have games against Bolton and Blackpool on their schedule. However, given their haughty mental approach to the task at hand, Cashin says that’s not an issue.

“There is a real culture of togetherness here,” the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international said to the Derby Telegraph. Paul Warne, the manager, recently stated that there is little difference between the top eight teams in the league. All of them possess qualities, but what the others lack is a mindset that says we’ll always run faster and outplay them on the pitch. And I believe it’s what will, hopefully, set us apart from other teams.

That, in my opinion, may set this team apart from other teams I’ve played for in the past.

Cashin also praised Warne’s culture-building efforts at the club. He thinks the Rams will return to the championship game after a two-year break thanks to this additional weapon in the Derby arsenal.

“He (Warne) is a strong supporter of ensuring that we perform well both on and off the pitch,” Cashin continued. “There have been numerous events, and he has been quite honest.

That’s one of his best qualities, in my opinion. He is excellent at motivating you to play for your family or fellow teammates so that they may be proud of you. You can’t help but feel extremely wonderful when you can channel that emotion into optimism, which is what he does so well—especially during his team meetings.
