Derby County gets deal done for the summer

DerbyshireLive’s most recent Derby County news includes the Rams head coach’s comments regarding a possible summer transfer for the midfield player.

Paul Warne, the head coach of Derby County, has acknowledged that Cardiff City will have a significant influence over the future, but he has not ruled out making a permanent move for midfielder Ebou Adams this summer.

At last night’s fans’ forum, which covered a variety of subjects from Derby’s academy to their plans for the upcoming season, Adams’ future came under scrutiny.

In particular, Warne was questioned concerning Adams, who has been a big hit since joining from the Bluebirds back in January and has been instrumental in leading them to second place in the League One standings as they attempt to win the championship again.

Adams still has a year left on his Cardiff contract, but Warne played it straight when answering the question last night about whether Derby would make a move for him during the transfer window.

“First and foremost he has been excellent and I think the world of Ebou,” he stated. He’s a player for Cardiff, but this sounds like the response of a football manager, which isn’t like me.

“They graciously loaned him to us, and just because he wasn’t in their plans during this time doesn’t mean he won’t be for the next.

You could make the case that he still has maybe seven or, dare I say it, ten games left to try to win us over. Although he has the chance to try and win something here, he is essentially a Cardiff player. It’s most likely not as likely as it is.”
