Done deal for Derby County

Derbyshire Live’s most recent Derby County news includes updates from Sweden and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.

After saying a tearful goodbye to the Swedish team last night, keeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom is now on his way to Derby County, according to Bosse Andersson, sporting director of Djurgarden.

Zetterstrom, who is getting ready to officially transfer to Pride Park, shed tears at the final whistle after helping Djurgarden defeat Ilves 3-1 in last night’s Europa Conference League qualifying round.

A lengthy search for a custodian will come to an end with Derby agreeing to a £1.4 million deal for the 6′ 6″ stopper. Head coach Paul Warne will be greatly boosted ahead of tomorrow’s match against Middlesbrough (12.30pm).

Following Djurgarden’s victory, Andersson discussed the agreement, saying: “We have had a lengthy discussion with Derby. This is why timing is crucial. We decided to carry out this plan for the duration of our European travels. Now that Jacob Rinne is in place, we feel secure.

“Now that he’s over, if everything goes according to plan, he’ll sign and could play his first game on Saturday against Middlesbrough. Throughout the course of our negotiations, he has performed admirably. I’m glad he has this chance since I hold him in high regard.”

Regarding his exit, Zetterstrom continued, “It was unique. many different feelings. But when you’ve had as much fun as I did, that’s how it should be. This year has been amazing. in addition to the senior level, at the junior level as well. I have a very strong emotional connection to this club.

“Many tears were shed. I have exciting new adventures coming up that I am looking forward to. Playing English football is the life of dreams. That’s what I’ve always wanted in life. Making that move feels like the greatest thing ever.”
