The Rams duo nominated for EFL awards after outstanding season..

Derby County have been represented on the awards front as the EFL season comes towards a thrilling conclusion.

Derby County have had a rollercoaster of a season in League One, which is far from over yet. The Rams currently sit in second place, with four games remaining to seal a potential promotion push back to the Championship.

After a stellar run of form, Paul Warne has turned the team around from a slow start into real challengers at the top. That’s in spite of the fact that a plethora of ailments affected his squad and team selection all along.

If they win all four of their remaining games, it would be an incredible comeback to the Championship; if they lose, they will have to rely on other outcomes.

That being said, the trip has been memorable thus far, with many highs and lows. The EFL has highlighted a few standout individual performances in advance of their awards ceremony.

EFL Awards 2024

The EFL awards night for 2024 is just around the corner, celebrating the best of the season across the 72 clubs. From the Championship to League Two, there are nominations for every division that includes representation for managers, players, youngsters and employees at clubs.

Derby County award nominees

Two players from Derby County have been nominated for the forthcoming EFL awards ceremony. First up is Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who is among the contenders for League One player of the year along with Harrison Burrows of Peterborough and Marlon Pack of Portsmouth.

With 42 games played so far this season, the forward has eight goals and 16 assists for the Rams, demonstrating his value to the team. Paul Warne did not receive a nomination for manager of the season, and Eiran Cashin did not receive a nomination for young player of the season, therefore he is the only first-team representative from Derby.

However, youthful attacker Dajaune Brown is another contender for the Derby. The 18-year-old will compete against Tom King of Cheltenham and Reuben Wyatt of Northampton for the title of League One Apprentice of the Season.

Brown has scored six goals in 14 games during his productive loan stint in the National League with Gateshead.

The nominations for awards are an indication of a club returning to its desired state. After ownership problems, Derby County had a period of hardship, but these days they are among the EFL’s bright spots.

Individual prizes would be appreciated, even if the Rams’ primary goal will be to get to the championship. In Brown’s case, it also indicates a bright future for the youthful striker.
