Detroit Lions Nine Players Injury Update…..

DETROIT — Head coach Dan Campbell gave an update on Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch, David Montgomery, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, and James Mitchell. The Detroit Lions have been severely impacted by injuries this season.

Injury to David Montgomery

It appears like the starting running back for the Lions will be out of the lineup for a few weeks. Campbell said on Monday that Montgomery has a problem with the cartilage in his ribcage.

He’s likely going to be unconscious for a little while because of a small injury to his cartilage, according to Campbell. “I’m not sure how long. That’s exactly how long it will take, and from his perspective, that’s not something that’s easy to handle. We’ll just have to see how things play out, but I believe there’s a potential we won’t have him for a little while.

Whether Montgomery will be placed on injured reserve is unknown to Campbell.

To be honest with you, Campbell responded, “I don’t know.” “I’m not sure. Currently, I really don’t. We’ll check in with him tomorrow to see how he’s feeling, and then on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to see where we’re at.

injury to Jahmyr Gibbs

It is clearly even more crucial that the rookie running back for the Lions plays again if Montgomery is out of the lineup.

The Gibbs report from Campbell was far more encouraging than the Montgomery one.

“This week, I feel a lot better about Gibbs,” Campbell remarked. “He had a great workout on Monday and ran really well on Saturday before we left.”

Gibbs’ hamstring issue has kept him out of the previous two games. When he returns, he’ll probably share carries with Craig Reynolds, who replaced Montgomery following his injury in Tampa Bay.

injury to Brian Branch
When Branch is on the field, he is one of Detroit’s top players. In the first game, he picked intercepted a pass from Patrick Mahomes and returned it for a score, amassing 25 tackles, 21 solo tackles.

Regretfully, due to an ankle injury he sustained during the victory against Green Bay, the standout rookie safety has missed the last two games. While reviewing the injury updates on Monday, Campbell made a passing reference to Branch, noting that he “looked really good” that day.

Regarding Branch and a few other players, Campbell remarked, “I think they’re trending the right way.”

Injury to James Mitchell
Mitchell was one of the other players in the group. The backup tight end’s hamstring issue prevented him from playing on Sunday.

According to Campbell, Mitchell looked fantastic on Monday and is moving in the right way.

Injury to Halapoulivaati Vaitai

After suffering an injury in the Lions’ season-opening game against Seattle, Vaitai was out for the following two weeks. Though he hasn’t played, he has been involved in the last two games.

Campbell noted that Graham Glasgow’s performance in the meantime has allowed the Lions to take it slow with Vaitai.

Big V is “just coming back from this really steadily,” according to Campbell. He has been in reserve for a while. Although he performed better this week than previous, we still need to make sure he is fully prepared before deciding how to proceed.

Another thing to watch in Vaitai’s recuperation: Jonah Jackson’s ankle injury kept him out of action on Sunday. Even if Glasgow starts at one of the guard positions and the Lions are okay with it, Vaitai’s return may force Kayode Awosika into a backup role.

Regarding Vaitai, Campbell remarked, “It’s just about: We want to make sure that he’s 100% comfortable with his own abilities with his knee coming back.” “We would only expect him to get better and be almost back to 100% because he was much better this week than last week.”
