Phil Parkinson insisted Altrincham will carry on entertaining as they enter the final phase of trying to secure a first-ever place in the National League play-offs.
Fourth in the league with just three games left, after a 1-0 Easter Monday win against Oldham Athletic before the TNT Sports cameras, the Robins face a searching test of nerve and character as they head into away fixtures with Dorking Wanderers and Ebbsfleet United over the next two Saturdays before hosting Oxford City on April 20.
However, they intend to continue with the approach that has helped them score 81 goals so far this season. Oldham was unable to match them as Chris Conn-Clarke’s goal in the first half of the match ended in a best-of-season crowd of 4,578.
The Alty boss, Parkinson, said, “We’ve put on a show for the cameras and a bumper crowd, and I’m ever so proud of everyone connected with the club.”We have a strong chance to win any game in this division if we all band together and continue to do what we do well.
“I felt that we carved them open at times and played some beautiful stuff in the first half.”
“We just approach games that way, which is why the front four are entertaining to watch right now. We are not trying to find a draw or positioning ourselves to stop the opposition. We enter games with the intention of winning and scoring goals, and that is what I would want to see if I were paying to see.
“We fancy it against anyone, the way the players are motivated and prepared right now.”
After defeating Kidderminster 3-1 on Good Friday, Alty had won three straight games. Elliot Osborne, who was named Harvey Nichols man-of-the-match, was a key player in central midfield.
Parkinson stated, “Elliot embodies everything we look for in a central midfielder.” We dominated the first part of the game.
