5 people in contention for manager as Grant McCann sacked today*

Matlock Town have signed Jack Degruchy on loan from League 2 side Doncaster Rovers, the Pitching In Northern Premier Division side have confirmed.
The attacking midfielder becomes the third player to arrive at the Proctor Cars Stadium from the EFL club, after Jack Goodman and Tavonga Kuleya.

The 21-year-old becomes the first player signed by the Gladiators since former boss Martin Carruthers stepped down from his role as manager.

Co-interim boss Mark Atkins believes Degruchy can be key towards the end of the season, saying “I’ve heard good things about Jack and he’s definitely one for the future.

“We need to get him to fulfil the undoubted potential he has.”

Degruchy has made three appearances in League 2 for Rovers since his debut against Bradford City in 2022.

This is his second loan spell of the year, having spent time at Southern League Premier Central side Kettering Town in January.

Degruchy will be available for Matlock’s home game on Saturday vs promotion-chasing Marine.
