After making his first start for the Rovers after returning from injury, Jack Senior could not hide his delight.
In his first appearance in six weeks, Senior returned to left back and helped Rovers defeat Grimsby Town to record his first victory in Rovers uniform.
Senior spoke to the media after the event and could not contain his delight, even as he described the challenging times during the previous few months.
“It’s been a tough time for me,” he stated. After a few years, this is the first serious injury I’ve had. I was trying to get through it, so it caught me off guard. It was difficult for me to comprehend when I eventually understood it was more severe than I had assumed.
“You can’t criticize the effort and application the boys who have been there on the pitch, who have been going out there and doing their job to the best of their abilities, week in and week out.
“When you want to be out there fighting with your teammates, it’s frustrating to watch.” I’m overjoyed to be back.
“It’s much more wonderful for me since it’s my first taste of victory following the difficult start to the season.
When you’re hurt, you have a lot of free time to reflect. The most important thing was to make every effort to return and contribute to the squad. It wasn’t the finest outcome, but you want to be there, to have a taste of it on Tuesday night.
“I was eager for the game to begin after being out to get my start. Happy days, to finish with three points and a spotless record.
Senior stated that he is much more eager to play again after Rovers’ incredible recent run.
“You’re joining a team where expectations are predetermined,” he stated. “Players will anticipate that you will arrive and immediately uphold standards. Either way, I knew that.
